Chimera RTT Metagame Rundown - October 18, 2025

Welcome to the Chimera Gaming Metagame Rundown, where we’re going to be doing a quick rundown of the local metagame coming to our monthly events, seeing how that compares to the larger global metagame, and diving into some unique lists.

Metagame

This metagame is a pretty wild one.  Definitely very skewed towards a few factions.  The top 5 factions at our event this weekend, which normally make up 18.5% of the total factions available, make up a whopping 40.6% of our meta this weekend.

At the top of those factions, Imperial Knights sit at 4 of our 32 players.  Not surprising given how popular the army is overall in addition to this being our first event after the release of their new codex.  There’s a surprising diversity between detachments; 2 players are running Spearhead-at-Arms, which focuses on a fewer number of large knights buffing a slew of Armigers; 1 player is running Valourstrike which focuses on moving knights quickly across the table while shooting; and the last player (but not least) is running Questoris Companions featuring a whopping 4 large knights trying to complete as many Deeds and stack as many buffs as possible.

The remainder of the most represented factions include Adeptus Custodes, Astra Miliatrum, Dark Angels, and Space Marines.  The large number of space marine factions seems to include a few people playing the new Shadowmark Talon Ravenguard detachment.

The bottom of the represented factions includes 10 of our 32 players bringing unique factions, which is always good to see as it means that no faction is truly out of the running and our players will bring whatever is the most fun to play despite what the global meta represents.

Comparing our local meta to the overall meta (I only included factions represented at our event), you can see how incredibly different our local meta this time around is from the global meta.  It’s going to be an exciting day seeing how all these armies fare compared to their respective win rates in the dashboard image below.

List Spotlight

This month’s list spotlight is an extremely unique army.  Luke Ducker is bringing his Astra Militarum back to the table representing one of our top factions at the event.  Anyone who knows Luke knows that he loves to bring the whackiest list he can to our events and has a BLAST (foreshadowing?) running things like Indirect Spam never leaving his own deployment zone, or Triple Baneblades.  Well…. This month Luke has opted for something a little different for us…. FOUR Baneblades.

Luke is running the Hammer of the Emperor Detachment in order to be able to physically MOVE his models around the table as the Baneblades usually get caught on walls.  Of the chassis choices, he opted for 2 Baneblades, a Shadowsword and a Doomhammer.  The Baneblades will mostly be taking care of infantry while the Shadowsword and Doomhammer are sure to rip through any hulls in the game.  Backed up by Lord Solar Leontus Issuing Orders to 3 of the 4 tanks, the rest of the players in this event will really need to be careful about who pokes their head around a corner.

I hope everyone enjoyed the second in this rundown series.  Once we have more data I will do a post going over how local players and armies are doing overall!
